Sherwill Design
1984 – Present
Based on ten years of professional practice Sherwill Design was started in 1984, alongside a broad range of product design activity, collaborations with leading yacht designers have created notable design successes. These include the highly successful Marine Projects Sigma 38 (with David Thomas and launched in 1987) and the innovative Prima 38 One-Design from Seaquest Yachts (with Stephen Jones and launched in 1998).

The Prima One-Design won the coveted BMIF Yacht of the Year Award in 1998, plus numerous yachting trophies on the racing circuit including Cork Week and the RORC IRC National Championship. The Rustler 42 cruising boat (also designed with Stephen Jones) has also enjoyed continuing commercial success since its introduction in 1999.

Jonty Sherwill was invited to join the judging panel for the BMIF Nautical Awards in 1999 & 2000, and asked by Yachting World magazine to be on the judging panel for the Concours d’Elegance at the 150th America’s Cup Anniversary in 2001.

Visiting Lecturer working with 2nd and 3rd year product design students en route to BA Hons graduation.

Ogle Design
1978 – 1984 (6 years)
A company famous for the Reliant Scimitar and the Ogle Mini sports coupés, Jonty Sherwill joined the company in 1978 under the leadership of Tom Karen. In addition to high profile product design work (Electrolux, Qualcast, BT etc.) the job included styling on transport projects, including Plaxton, a show car for Du Pont, and passenger aircraft interior for Saab-Fairchild. Jonty was promoted to Studio Manager in 1982.

Nash Associates / Nash Research
1975 – 1978 (3 years)
Working with MD Tony Worsfold's Nash Associates in Central London, the client list included some famous British product manufacturers - BSR, Swan, KEF, and others. The synthesis of design disciplines provided ideal professional training; product styling, graphic design, manual development of precise injection mouldings and prototype model making.
